Currently Director of Finance and Operations in a cross-phase MAT serving schools in areas of high socio-economic deprivation. I am part of the Trust’s Executive Leadership Team, responsible for assessing threats and opportunities facing the Trust and devising strategies for development or risk management. Responsibilities also cover strategic leadership and management of finance and operations across the Trust, governance and data protection.
Notable achievements include establishing the multi-academy trust; managing a tightening budget, including reducing a projected £600k deficit in one of the schools; reviewing and restructuring staffing using ICFP models; restructuring administrative staff across two schools to improve efficiency; submitting successful funding bids totalling in excess of £3m; leading the emergency response and reinstatement following a major fire at one of the Trust’s schools; and establishing new in-house catering provision.
A former school governor and charity trustee, I have experience across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, including 15 years in education and seven in school improvement. I am a graduate of the Executive Educators programme for Trust CEOs, hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Leadership and Management, further professional qualifications in management, marketing and journalism, and an MA in English Language and Literature from the University of Oxford.
I am a former pupil of two of the schools in our Trust and the first in my family to go to university. I credit this to the inspiration provided by one of my teachers at Airedale and am passionate about ensuring that other children from my community are encouraged to be brave and ambitious, getting the best education possible and not being limited by their background.
