As a Naace Board Member and Senior Consultant at Edable, Simon works with schools, academies and trusts to develop their education technology as well as with businesses to provide cross-sector education solutions, support, content and services. He has been involved in a number of high profile initiatives including establishing the “Hwb” online platform for all schools, teachers and pupils in Wales, leading the development of the Self-Review Framework (SRF) and ICT Mark for Naace, and the London ICT Framework for Education (LIFE) procurement framework for London Schools.
Simon was formerly Head of Institutional Management at Becta and led the government agency’s support for developing Parental Engagement and Online Reporting, the ICT Mark, the ICT Test Bed project and Total Cost of Ownership research. He played a key role in developing tools and guidance such as the Frameworks for Parental Engagement, school improvement (SRF), and Information Management Strategy (IMS) Framework as well as the ICT Quality Indicators and ICT Investment Planning Tools.
Simon’s background in education is as a science, maths and technology teacher and subject leader for Physics and ICT/Computing. His coding experience includes developing a networked school monitoring, assessment and reporting system. Simon left teaching to take up a role as Business Development Manager and a technical manager for Capita, integrating curriculum and SIMS administration systems as well as designing, developing and supporting managed network services and solutions across the Capita Group and wider public sector.
